Marshalltown No Kings rally sees biggest turnout yet

As similar demonstrations unfolded across Iowa and the U.S., the latest “No Kings” protest against the Trump administration was held on Saturday in Marshalltown at the Center and Anson Street intersection near Hardee’s, with some of the demonstrators then marching down Center Street to the South Street intersection. Tom Swartz, one of the organizers, said a total of 128 people attended the approximately hourlong rally, making it the largest turnout for a Marshalltown event thus far, and many brought their own homemade signs to express criticisms of the president and call for his impeachment and arrest. Drivers who passed by the busy intersection offered a mix of support and jeers for the demonstrators. CBS News estimated that at least 8 million people participated in a total of 3,300 “No Kings” events around the world, and the protests occurred on the heels of 3,500 additional ground troops arriving in the Middle East Saturday amidst the ongoing war with Iran.
