MPD investigating fatal Sunday morning shooting
A shooting in the 100 block of North 11th Avenue early Sunday morning has left one person dead and three others hospitalized as a result of their injuries.
According to a press release from the Marshalltown Police Department (MPD), officers were dispatched to the scene of a shooting at 4:16 a.m. and found two victims who had been shot. The suspect had fled the area on foot.
Both victims were transported to Unity Point Hospital, where one has since died. Shortly
afterward, two additional gunshot victims had arrived at UnityPoint to be treated for their injuries. No update is currently available for the additional reported victims.
Victim information will be withheld pending proper family notifications. The investigation remains ongoing.
“There is no indication that this was a random act,” the MPD wrote in its release.
The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is assisting with the investigation, and the MPD release said public updates will be shared as they become available.
