Deputies respond to fiery Zeller Avenue crash Thursday

At 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies were dispatched to the 2300 mile of Zeller Avenue for a single vehicle crash after the vehicle struck the Iowa River Bridge guardrail as it left the roadway and overturned several times.

According to Sheriff Joel Phillips, additional motorists stopped to remove the driver from the vehicle as it became engulfed in flames. The driver, identified as Jeremiah Frohwein, 45 of Gilman, was transported to UnityPoint Health due to injuries sustained in the crash.

At presstime, the condition of the driver was unknown. The MCSO was assisted by Le Grand Fire and EMS, UnityPoint Ambulance, and the Iowa State Patrol (ISP), and the crash remains under investigation by the ISP.
