Arrest warrants have been issued for a pair of individuals believed to have been unlawfully inside the old downtown hospital building four days after members of the Marshalltown Fire Department (MFD) rescued two people from a container inside the facility.

On Sunday evening at about 6:30 p.m., the Marshalltown Police Department (MPD) and MFD responded to a reported gas leak — it was later determined that there is no gas or utilities on at the building — and found two individuals requiring medical aid.

According to a press release issued Thursday, the MPD conducted an investigation into the presence of people in this building, which should be vacant, and arrest warrants have been obtained for two people.

One is 33-year-old Manuel Patlan Corona for third degree burglary and second degree criminal mischief, both Class D felonies, and possession of burglar tools, an aggravated misdemeanor. Patlan Corona is described as being approximately 5’10” and weighing 150 pounds.

Lavonne Jefferson, 53, listed at 5’6″ and approximately 200 pounds, is wanted for trespassing first, a simple misdemeanor.

The MPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating these individuals. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Marshalltown Police Department at (641) 754-5725 or Marshall County Crime Stoppers at (641) 753-1234.

Starting at $4.38/week.
