Marshalltown residents gather on the lawn of the Cartwright Pavilion late Friday afternoon for the first 2026 MCBD Live After 5 concert. During the past two years, the Live After 5 series was held at West End Park, but the Marshalltown Central Business District wanted to bring it back downtown.

The annual free concert series Live After 5 returned to downtown Marshalltown on Friday with Grand Marshall as the opening band. The series, which came under the operation of Marshalltown Central Business District (MCBD) earlier in the year, is being held at the Cartwright Pavilion off of State Street. Instead of a concert every Friday, the performances will be spaced out throughout the summer.
