MCSD welcomes new associate principal at Marshalltown High School

The Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) is pleased to announce the hiring of Vic Vanderpool as Associate Principal at Marshalltown High School, effective July 1, 2026.
Vanderpool brings extensive leadership experience in education, most recently serving as Executive Director for the Gilbert Community School District. In this role, he led human resources operations, oversaw district-wide safety and security, and supervised multiple departments including transportation, technology, and facilities.
Prior to his district leadership role, Vanderpool served as Principal of Gilbert High School, where he led a 547-student school, managed staff and budgets, and supported student programming including special education, 504 services, and at-risk initiatives. His background also includes experience as a district at-risk coordinator, alternative school leader, and special education teacher, reflecting a strong commitment to supporting all students.
Academically, Vanderpool holds a Master’s degree in Special Education from Morningside College and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education from the University of Northern Iowa. He also holds PK-12 administrative licensure and multiple instructional and coaching endorsements.
“I am truly honored to accept the associate principal position at Marshalltown High School,” Vanderpool said. “I am excited to get to work building strong relationships with students, staff, and community members, help support a positive and inclusive school culture, and do all I can to help all students reach their highest level of success.”
Vanderpool shared that his leadership approach aligns with MCSD’s Embrace the Lead initiative by focusing on visibility, collaboration, and service to others. He emphasizes clear communication, strong relationships, and continuous growth as key components of effective leadership.
His top priority in the new role will be building strong relationships with students, staff, and the broader community to support student success at Marshalltown High School.
Outside of his professional role, Vanderpool enjoys exercising, spending time outdoors, collecting and listening to records, and being with family and friends. He and his wife, Katie, have two children, Sam and Sophie.
