Next meeting of The Write Club to be held at library May 16

Since June 2025, The Write Club, a group for established and aspiring writers, teens through adults, has met monthly for a mix of discussion, sharing writing samples, camaraderie and a lecture on a particular writing topic.

Made possible through funding from the Artist Innovation Grant awarded by the Arts & Culture Alliance, the group is led and organized by journalist/author Sara Jordan-Heintz. Free and open to the public, it will meet next from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 at the Marshalltown Public Library, Meeting Room B.

The topic for this month’s meeting is finding purpose in your writing: why we write what we write.

Previous sessions have focused on: writing tips/how to improve writing, motivation/overcoming writer’s block, how to get published, dealing with rejection, using life experiences to inform your writing, how to make a living as a writer, and more.

Future dates are as follows (same place and time): June 13, July 18 and August 15. The club will meet through November, dates to be finalized.

For more information, reach out to Jordan-Heintz at: sara.jordan909@gmail.com and join the Facebook group: The Write Club. The monthly lectures are recorded (audio only) and posted to the Facebook group.

Starting at $4.38/week.
