Former MCSD secretary, girls soccer coach reaches plea deal over inappropriate relationship with student

Galema

A former Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) high school secretary who also previously served as the head girls soccer coach has reached a plea deal after being charged with sexual exploitation and lascivious conduct with a minor last year.

Stacy Ann Galema, now 36, has agreed to plead guilty to one count of enticing a minor, a Class D felony, with a recommended prison sentence not to exceed five years with credit for time served. The state will argue the sentence shall be imposed, and the defense will argue that it should be suspended. Other recommendations include a minimum fine of $1,025 plus a requirement that Galema register as a sex offender.

Galema was originally charged with two counts of sexual exploitation by a school employee, one a Class D felony and the other an aggravated misdemeanor, and lascivious conduct with a minor, a serious misdemeanor, last November over allegations that she carried on an inappropriate relationship with a student between 2014 and 2020.

A plea hearing is scheduled for July 6 at noon, and a sentencing date has not yet been set.

Starting at $4.75/week.
