The Cartwright Market does not just offer Marshalltown residents fresh produce, locally-grown meats and handmade baked goods.

This Saturday, the farmers market will also have the annual Welcome to Summer Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“The Welcome to Summer Craft Fair is an event where we invite vendors you might not see normally,” said Market Manager Trisha Wilder.

The farmers market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon, but the fair hours have been extended. Wilder said the vendors will be set up in the grass lot in front of the market.

“Alongside the approximately 20 regular market vendors we expect this Saturday, we will also have around 12 guest vendors,” she said. “This group of guest vendors will have quite a variety of items. Anything from home decor, personal care, garden decor and clothing items.”

Wilder looks forward to meeting the new vendors and seeing familiar ones who make frequent returns to the Cartwright Market and the summer fair.

“The energy is always really good up there and it’s a really nice crowd,” she said. “This year, we also have more food options for guests and places to sit.”

Wilder said New Life Church will sell lemonade shakeups and a pancake breakfast as a fundraiser for the Bible Quizzers to go to the national competition. The Pretzel Parade food truck and Back Rounds Bounty Eats & Sweets will also be present.

The fair is something residents might remember, as Wilder said they have hosted it every year since 2019. The only exceptions were in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and the major State Street construction project in 2023.

“Come out, bring a friend and enjoy the weather,” she said.
