A Marshalltown man has been charged with first degree burglary, a Class B felony, after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a victim inside the victim's home.
According to a criminal complaint, 26-year-old Michael Rangel came inside of an occupied structure "aggressively looking" for the alleged victim.
People inside the house were telling the defendant to get out of the house including the victim. The defendant began punching the victim and the victim then pushed the defendant outside. The defendant continued to assault the victim in the front yard. The victim had injuries," the complaint reads.
At presstime, Rangel was being held at the Marshall County Jail on a $25,000 bond, and his initial appearance is scheduled for Aug. 7 at 9:30 a.m. He has also been charged with interference with official acts in connection with the incident.
"While trying to detain the defendant, he tried leaving on his bike multiple times, would not give his name or birthday and lied about what had happened. While trying to detain the defendant, he stiffened his arms and would not let officers place handcuffs on his wrists. The defendant continued to not give his name or birthday until on the way to the jail," the complaint says.
