Plea agreement reached in Marshalltown grooming case

A plea agreement has been reached in a Marshalltown grooming case.

Brock Casady, 40, was arrested and charged with third-degree sexual abuse of a minor on Nov. 10, 2025. According to the Marshalltown Police Department arrest report, the minor victim reported that she was sexually abused by Casady the previous night.

The victim’s mother confronted Casady, who left the residence afterward. A Flock camera showed his vehicle leaving Marshalltown before his arrest.

Casady pleaded not guilty to third-degree sexual abuse, and his original jury trial was scheduled for Jan. 27. The trial was continued several times, with the last rescheduled trial set to start on Tuesday.

Roughly three weeks before the trial, Casady’s defense attorney and the prosecution agreed to a deal in which he would plead guilty to grooming, a Class D felony carrying a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,245 fine.

According to the plea agreement, a period of incarceration for five years or more would be suspended, and Casady will get credit for time served. If the terms are approved, he will have two years of supervised probation and will stay at a residential correctional facility outside of Marshall County. Until a bed is available for Casady, he will remain at the Marshall County Jail.

Casady must also provide a DNA sample, get listed on the sex offender registry and complete a sex offender treatment program within one year.

A sentencing hearing for Casady will occur on Aug. 10.

Starting at $4.75/week.
