Two dead after motorcycle crash near Rhodes

RHODES — Two people have died as the result of a motorcycle crash in the 1300 mile of 295th Street near Rhodes on Sunday night.

According to a press release from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the aforementioned location for a report of a motorcycle crash with two occupants at approximately 9:09 p.m. When deputies arrived on scene, an unresponsive man was located off the roadway several yards from the motorcycle, and an immediate search of the area was conducted where the female passenger, also unresponsive, was located.

The driver of the motorcycle, 31-year-old Brandon Overman of Rhodes, was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of injuries sustained from the crash. The passenger, 27-year-old Chandler Kendall of Rhodes, was transported from the scene by air ambulance to a hospital in Des Moines, where she later died due to the injuries she sustained in the motorcycle crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Iowa State Patrol, UnityPoint Heath-Marshalltown Ambulance, UnityPoint Health Life Flight Air Ambulance, Marshall County Medical Examiner’s Office, Melbourne Fire Department and First Responders, and the Rhodes Fire Department.
