The Iowa State University (ISU) Army ROTC cadets stopped in Marshalltown on Friday morning as part of the annual Game Ball Run tradition ahead of the Cy-Hawk football game set for Saturday evening. They started at the Courthouse Veterans Memorial, and the Marshalltown Fire Department (MFD) unveiled their giant American flag at the intersection of Main and Center Streets as the cadets headed north and west to the Iowa Veterans Home, where they had a chance to mingle with residents and receive a welcome address from Operations Executive Administrator Nathan Wilson. Additionally, ISU Professor of Military Science Ltc. Robert Calkins presented a certificate of appreciation for Commandant Todd Jacobus, which Wilson accepted as Jacobus was unable to attend. The cadets then headed east to Tama-Toledo, where they traditionally meet up with the University of Iowa Cadets and pass off the game ball for the home stretch.
