Man charged with grooming, 19 counts of possession of depiction of minor in sex act

An Eldora man who was residing at the Marshalltown Residential Center (Halfway House) at the time of the offenses has been charged with a total of 21 felony counts and another serious misdemeanor in Marshall County over allegations that he carried on an inappropriate long-distance relationship with a minor victim and obtained nude photos and videos as a result of said relationship.
Hemi Alyn McStockard, 20, faces 19 counts of purchase/possession of depiction of a minor in a sex act first offense, one count of sex offender registration violation second or subsequent offense and a single count of grooming, all Class D felonies, and one count of dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to minors, a serious misdemeanor.
"The defendant received nude photographs and videos from the victim, which were reasonably used to satisfy the defendant’s sexual desires. The defendant and victim had conversations about having sex with one another. The defendant knowingly and willingly used an electronic submission device to solicit the victim to commit an illegal sex act," a criminal complaint against McStockard reads.
McStockard is a registered sex offender after pleading guilty and being convicted of indecent exposure -- masturbation and lascivious acts with a child in Hardin County in 2024. According to court records, McStockard, who was 18 at the time, was caught on security camera footage masturbating in the AGWSR school parking lot on June 8, 2024 and also attempted to entice an underage victim into having sex with him about two weeks later.
As of Monday afternoon, McStockard was being held in the Marshall County Jail without bond, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 6 at 9:30 a.m.
