Each football Friday, a group of Marshalltown High School (MHS) players head out to the district's elementary schools to provide students with a special start to their morning and spread some Bobcat pride in the process through high fives and positive encouragement for the youngsters. Last week, the T-R caught up with Brendon Landeros, Austin Odom, Ryan Grobe and Levi Bell at Anson as they explained what the interaction means to them.
"Really, for me, it feels like we're inspiring the youth to support the Bobcat community. Some of these kids might want to grow up to play football. Some of these kids might grow up to even just want to sit in the stands and watch the game, and some of them are wearing Marshalltown Bobcat shirts," Landeros said. "I just want these little kids to grow up knowing that there's a community that cares for them and we're always there for them."
"I think it's a great opportunity for our players to connect with the younger students and represent our football program and school in a positive way," Coach Adam Goodvin added.
