Election 2026: All three GOP incumbents re-elected to Marshall County Board of Supervisors

Despite an undeniable "Blue Wave" across much of the state and the country, the Marshall County Board of Supervisors will remain all red for at least two more years after Republican incumbents Christian Goodman, Jarret Heil and Carol Hibbs all won re-election to their respective seats in Tuesday's midterm election.
Both Heil and Hibbs, who were first elected in 2022, will serve another four-year term after Hibbs received 7,664 votes and Heil received 7,463. They defeated Democratic challenger DeMorris Dean, a retired Marshall County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) deputy, who received 6,629 votes.
"Thank you to the residents of Marshall County for their support! I look forward to continuing my work on behalf of the County with Jarret and Christian. I appreciate their professionalism and energy in addressing the issues we are facing as a Board," Hibbs told the T-R on Tuesday night.
Heil, who hails from Haverhill, previously served as the Marshall County Treasurer before his election in 2022, and Hibbs, of Marshalltown, retired after 15 years as CEO of the Marshalltown YMCA/YWCA before running for office.
"It's always an honor to be elected by the people of Marshall County, and it's an honor to serve them. And I take that honor and that oath seriously, and I look forward to working with a great team in Carol and Christian to continue to move forward in the property tax environment that we're in and try to keep those property taxes low for our citizens and continue services and be innovative and efficient in what we do with our services," Heil said.
He added that despite state and national trends heavily favoring Democrats -- even within Marshall County, incumbent State Rep. David Blom was defeated by retired Police Chief Mike Tupper -- the results in the Board of Supervisors race show approval of the job they have done thus far.
"It shows that all three of us, are proving ourselves in how we lead and our professionalism, how we conduct ourselves and how we protect the taxpayer and operate government in a way that the public expects it to," Heil said.
In the other race to fill the remainder of the late Kevin Goodman's term through the end of 2028, Goodman's son Christian, who was appointed to the seat earlier this year, easily defeated independent challenger Kyle Hall. Goodman, who calls Haverhill home and is the owner/operator of a trucking business, received 8,519 (68.56 percent) of the 12,425 votes cast, while Hall received 3,819.
"I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support of the residents of Marshall County. It's an honor and a privilege to continue serving all residents of the county as we work through several challenging issues. I'm grateful to be able to continue working with Jarret and Carol. Their dedication and experience have been invaluable to a relative newcomer like me," Goodman said.
