Election polls open for Marshall County voters today at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. As long as a person is in line at 8 p.m., they will still be able to cast their ballot.
There are 11 poll locations in the county. Voters need to cast their ballots at the corresponding location, based on their residential address.
In Marshalltown, the four locations are:
Marshalltown Public Library, 105 W. Boone St., for Ward 1 voters;
Iowa Veterans Home Malloy Hall, 1301 Summit St., Ward 2;
Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3001 S. Sixth St., Ward 3 and;
Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1600 S. Center St., Ward 4.
Throughout the rest of the county, the locations are:
Liscomb Community Building, 114 Main St., Liscomb for residents and people who live in the Bangor and Taylor townships;
Melbourne Recreational Center, 613 Main St., Melbourne, for Eden, Logan and Washington township voters;
Legrand Community Building, 206 N. Vine St., Legrand, for Green Castle and Legrand voters;
Marshalltown Community College Administration Building, 3702 S. Center St., Marshalltown, for Jefferson and Timber Creek township voters;
Orphan Grain Train, 302 Bevins St., Clemons, for Liberty, Marietta and Minerva township voters;
Green Mountain Community Park Building, 111 Woolston St., Green Mountain, for Marion and Vienna township voters and;
State Center City Hall, 118 E. Main St., State Center, for residents.
For Marshall County residents who are not registered voters, they can still do that at their appropriate polling locations. They need to bring identification, such as a driver's license and proof of residence, such as a utility bill.
While campaign shirts or buttons are OK to wear while voting, the resident must immediately leave the polling location after submitting their ballot.
Residents who need help filling out their ballots or who cannot get out of their cars can ask for assistance. One Republican and one Democrat will help fill out the ballots.
