Joseph is survived by his wife, Debra; children: Sarah Messerschmidt and husband Andrew, Jennifer Perkins and husband Jeremy, both of Oakland; four grandchildren; his sister Catherine Coppock and husband Richard; brothers: Peter, Matthew and wife Kristi, Samuel, Benjamin and wife Bonnie, Joshua and wife Amy, and Gideon Ihde; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, May 16, 2016, at the Oakland United Methodist Church from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the Oakland United Methodist Church at 1:30 PM. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
