Jack honorably served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy during the Second World War. Jack was soon to find himself courting the young Twilla Worrall. The two would be married on June 6, 1948. Jack attended the University of Iowa and graduated in 1953 with a BA in Medical Therapy.

Jack was a proud member of the American Legion, American Vets, and the 40 and 8 Club. Jack was most known for being the Commandant of the Iowa Veteran’s Home for over 33 years. In his time at the Veteran’s Home he never met a stranger. Jack was forever memorialized by having a building named after him at the Veteran’s Home. When he had free time he could always be found fishing with his good friend, Dr. Dean Baker.

To cherish Jack’s memory are his wife of 68 years, Twilla; son, Robert; grandson, Shane; great-granddaughter, Balee Grace; and sister, Beverly Williams.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ronald, Donald and Marjorie.
