Jean Evans, 92
Jean Evans, 92, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Hawkeye Care Center, in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church, in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown.
Jean was born January 6, 1925, to Stanton and Marie (Vosburg) Gould, in Gilman, IA. She graduated from Marshalltown High School. She received her degree as a secretary from AIB. Jean was united in marriage to Jack Evans on November 7, 1944, in Amarillo, TX. In her early years, she lived in California where she was a secretary for a California school district. She relocated to Marshalltown where she worked at Marshall Office Supply until her retirement in 1987. Jean was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was very active in many groups at the church. Jean was also a member of P.E.O., 20th Century Club, Red Hat Society, TTT, Community Y, and travel clubs. Jean enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, painting and crafts. Jean loved to host events and was known for her organizational skills.
Jean will be missed by her son, John (Brinda) Evans, of Marshalltown, two granddaughters: Shannon (Jon) Espenscheid, of Marshalltown, Janean (Michael) Johnson, of Bakersfield, CA, and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; a son, Jim and a brother, Norris Gould.
