Funeral services will be on Monday, February 19, 2018, at the Green Mountain Church of Christ at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Catherine Marie Tuffree was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on February 6, 1955; she was the daughter of Jack and Helen (Reif) Tuffree. Cathy attended school in Columbia Heights, Minnesota graduating with the Class of 1973. She was united in marriage to Mark Sibinski and was blessed with three children, they later divorced. On March 13, 1993, Cathy was united in marriage to Dennis Balmer and she was blessed to blend three more children to this family and they had resided in Green Mountain, Iowa. She worked at GMG schools, before and after school care of children and later opened up Balmer Daycare. She loved and adored every child she was honored to take care of. She was a member of Green Mountain Church of Christ. Cathy loved her family first and foremost. Cathy enjoyed the “Wheel of Fortune” game show, craft shows, music and musicals, puzzles, cross stich, birthday dinners with her family and had a strong passion for animals.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 24 years, Dennis, of Green Mountain; children: Michael (Michelle) Sibinski, of Washington, D.C., Kelly (Dan) Sorem, of Newton, Ryan Sibinski, of Newton, Curtis (Jennifer) Balmer, of Des Moines, Tanya (Aaron) Pierson, of Elkhart, and Kevin (Megan) Balmer, of Garwin; her precious grandchildren: Ashley (13), Aaliyah (10), Jackson (6), Henry (3), Kensley (1), Haley (12), Melissa (14), Devon (6), Cooper (8), Adam (6), Cameron (13), Carleigh (10), Landon (8) and Levi (4); siblings, Jackie Rief, of Kansas, and Mark (ImSun) Tuffree, of Alabama, and her “fur babies” Maggie, Annie, Snickers and Tink.

In death Cathy rejoins her parents, Jack and Helen Tuffree and her beloved dog, Lady.
