Wilma Maxine Cook

On Sept. 6 2018, the clouds opened up and welcomed Wilma Maxine Cook to be with Jesus and Frank, her husband of 70 years. Oh what a glorious day for Wilma!

Wilma was the pastors wife at Marshalltown’s First Church Of the Nazarene for 12 years. She loved each and everyone. She also cherished the long lasting friendships and memories of living in Marshalltown and building the original church on south Main. She also lived in Denver, Colorado, where she was missionary president for several years. Frank and Wilma owned and operated hotels and motels in the Denver area. In 1993, they moved to Sacramento, California and managed retirement communities. In 2003, Frank and Wilma finally retired to spend quality time with their grandchildren. Wilma played the piano and enjoyed singing, a few of her favorite songs were “In the Garden,” “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” and “Red River Valley.” Wilma lived to be 97 yrs old.

Wilma is preceded by her husband Frank Cook; son John Courtney Cook; father John Henry Kern; mother Minnie Roe Kern; brothers Claire Kern, John Paul Kern and Ronald Kern.

Wilma is survived by her children: Bill Cook and Bethy Cook, Sacramento Ca, David Cook and (Teresa Fuentes); Grandchildren Maxine Cook and Royce Cook, Wheat Ridge Colorado; Sister Elaine Winslow, Enterprise, Ore., Beverly Swenson, Marshalltown, Iowa, Dr. Stanley Kern, Newberg, Ore. and many nieces and nephews.

Wilma will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date to be determined.
