Nadine was born August 20, 1920, in Belle Plaine, IA, the daughter of Lineous Hoff and Sadie Van der Martin. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1938. Nadine attended Iowa State Teachers College and graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She taught in the Dunbar Consolidated School as an elementary teacher, next Newton Public School and Dysart Consolidated School and finally taught in the Marshalltown School District; teaching a total of 28 years. Nadine was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, National Church Women United, Joy Keepers of Church, Marshall County Retired School Personnel, American Legion Auxiliary, former member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority and Happy Hour 500 Club. She was united in marriage to Vernon R. Olson on June 1, 1946, at Friends Church in Marshalltown. They resided in Marshalltown at 910 East Anson Street. Nadine loved teaching third or fourth grade children, was a seamstress making her own clothes in her younger years, reading inspirational books, traveling with her husband and eating out with friends. She loved her two cats, Tippy and Shelby, feeding stray cats in recent years and enjoyed watching Iowa and Iowa State play basketball and football on TV. Nadine especially loved to play cards, 500 and Kings in the Corner.

Nadine is survived by nieces and nephews of the Olson and Hoff families; my very best friend, we were by our church as Heart to Heart friends and personal/financial advisor, Lorna Kennedy. We have been friends for 19 years. Nadine personally wrote her own obituary.
