Carol Dobson Kouba

Carol Dobson Kouba went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 18, 2019. At the time of her death, she was a resident at The Willows and under the care of Iowa River Hospice.

Funeral services for Carol will be held at Mitchell Family Funeral Home Tuesday, May 21 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation for friends and family will take place Monday, May 20, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens following a brief time for fellowship and refreshments. Born on August 12, 1923, in Tama County, Carol was the daughter of Harold Dobson and Lura Strong Dobson. She attended country school at the Whippoorwill School and graduated from Garwin High School in 1940. She then attended Iowa State Teacher’s College where she received a teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools until her marriage to Carl Kouba on December 1, 1945. The couple farmed in Tama County their entire married lives. A long-time, faithful member of the Carlton Brethren Church, Carol taught Sunday school for many years and was an active participant in all services, ministries, and activities. Carol’s priorities were her family and her Lord Jesus, both of whom she served well.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Barbara (Mickey) Creed, Alan (JoAnn Degner) Kouba, Mark (Sharon Lawrence) Kouba, and Kay Kouba; her sisters: Mary Etta Fisher, Darlene Hanner, and Joann Katzer; her brother Dick (Judy Reinert) Dobson; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl Kouba, her grandson, Paul Kouba, and many other relatives.
