Doris Niemantsverdriet, 96, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Wabasha, MN. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2019, at the Journey Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Interment will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Doris was born February 2, 1923, to Samuel and Emily (Day) Birchard in Kellogg, IA. She graduated from Kellogg High School in 1940. Doris was united in marriage to Russell Niemantsverdriet in Santa Rosa, CA, on December 5, 1943. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir for many years, a deaconess, a Circle leader, taught Sunday School, and supported the church in many other ways. Doris was a Red Cross volunteer for years and was named Volunteer of the Year for Marshall County.
Doris is survived by son James (Jan Kasper) Niemantsverdriet, daughter Pam (Gary Kottmann) Niemantsverdriet; grandchildren Andrew (Jessie) Niemantsverdriet, Sara (Brad) McDale, Cristen Kottmann, Beth Kasper, and Brett Kasper; great grandchildren Owen and Bo Niemantsverdriet; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her husband, Russell, and her grandson, Matthew Kottmann.
