Franzene DuToit, 90

Franzene DuToit, 90, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, former longtime resident of Marshalltown, died Friday, April 5, 2019, at her home under Hospice Care.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. She will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. A time of fellowship, refreshments and lunch will follow the internment and will be held at the funeral home. Visitation will be held Monday, May 13th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

Fran was born July 22, 1928 in Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Elise and Rudolph Wiese. She spent her early childhood on the Garwin farm and graduated from Toledo High School. On June 23, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lavern DuToit from Garwin.

Fran enjoyed many activities during her life, but most of all motorcycling with her husband of 65 years. In their early marriage, motorcycle trips to Colorado and California and in retirement, trips to Florida and the smoky mountains. Other activities Fran enjoyed were many fishing trips to Minnesota, gardening, snowmobiling and bowling. Fran was a member of the Marshalltown Bowling Association for 50 years.

The last 7 years of Fran’s life were spent in the Sarasota, Florida area where she was actively involved in her retirement community, church and spending time with family.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Steven (Rosalba), of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; her grandchildren: Eric DuToit (Kristina), of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Holly Milkas (Scott), of Newport Richey, Florida; a sister, Burnadene Kunch, of Toledo, Iowa and several great grandchildren.
