Reca E. Harnish, 96, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Grandview Heights Nursing & Rehab in Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 24, 2019, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., until the time of the services, at Anderson Funeral Homes. Reca was born on August 28, 1922, in La Crosse, WI, daughter of Joseph and Orina Mark. She was reared and educated there and graduated from Central High School in 1940. Reca was united in marriage to Vernon (Boyd) Harnish on September 21, 1944. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1982. Reca worked as an accountant for Electric Autolite Co. in La Crosse, then in Port Huron, MI, and came to Marshalltown in 1961 when Marshalltown Instruments became affiliated with the Electric Auto-Lite Co. She retired in 1984 after 43 years with the company. Reca was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ladies Bible Class and a long-time volunteer in the library at the Iowa Veterans Home, receiving the governor’s award for hours served.
Reca is survived by good friends Milt and Mary Dixon, of Gilman, IA; Joe and Maggie Duffy, of Marshalltown; Bob and Linda Ames, of Le Grand, IA; Shirley (Chuck Baker) Wall, of Union, IA; nieces and nephews, Jim and Dorothy Harnish, of La Crosse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon.
