LeRoy Damman, 94

LeRoy Damman, 94, of Melbourne, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2020, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, Iowa, with his family at his side.

Services for LeRoy will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the beginning of services. Memorials in LeRoy’s name may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project. LeRoy Calvin Damman was born to parents John and Gladys (Hotger) Damman on July 4, 1925, in rural Melbourne at his family’s home. He was one of five children born to the family. LeRoy attended school in Melbourne and graduated high school in the class of 1944.

In 1944, he was enlisted in the United States Army and just before leaving, LeRoy was united in marriage to his wife Doris Sash on April 22, 1944.

Upon his return in 1946, he moved from farm to farm until buying the family farm in Melbourne. LeRoy was a member of the United Church of Christ in Melbourne. In his free time, LeRoy enjoyed fishing, bowling, traveling and crafting oil paintings.

Left to remember and cherish his memory are his children: Deb (Bruce) DeSilva, Barb (Mike) Meyer and Jeff (Betty) Damman; his son-in-law, Eugene Flora; numerous grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and his siblings, Ruth (Raymond) Frohwein and Jean Brand; also left to remember LeRoy, is his sister-in-law, Marilyn Damman.

In death, LeRoy is rejoined with his beautiful bride Doris; his parents, John and Gladys; his daughter, Becky Flora; his brothers, Floyd Damman and Don Damman and brother-in-law, Duane Brand.
