Mary Lou Hunt, 79
Mary Lou Hunt, 79, of Marshalltown, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 19, 2020, in Yuma, Arizona. Mary was born on August 7, 1940, in Coatsville, MO, to Harry and Opal (Taylor) English. She spent the majority of her adult life working and raising her family in Marshalltown. In the 1980’s she took a leap of faith to follow and develop her talent for sewing, opening Mary Lou’s Upholstery, where she worked until her retirement. Mary had many hobbies, including quilting, gardening and garage sales. She loved being outdoors with a special fondness for camping, fishing and shelling. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. After retirement she spent winters in Arizona with her husband and mother.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Harry English, sister and brother-in-law, Donna Mae and Marvin Birt, and brother, James English.
She is survived by her husband Randy Doig, her mother Opal English, and three children: Robert Hicks, Marshalltown, IA, Dwight (Pat) Hunt, Cary, IL, Barbara (Tim) Bloomquist, Des Moines, IA; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss her compassionate spirit and zest for life.
Cremation rites are scheduled and due to state mandates, no memorial services are planned at this time. Condolences may be sent to the surviving family members.
