Born Tahler Jean Johnston on December 7th, 1989, in Marshalltown, she was one of two daughters born to Bernie and Melanie (Mowrey) Johnston. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 2008 and later Indian Hills and Missouri Western State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management. Following graduation, she began work for TPI in Newton.

On September 5th, 2015, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart and best friend, Kyle Wildman, in Marshalltown. They have made their home near State Center all of their married lives and were blessed with a daughter, their pride and joy, Briley Jean.

Tahler had an outgoing personality that attracted the love of others wherever she went. Her happy, likeable attitude made sure positivity always overcame anything negative. Tahler cherished time with family and friends and loved life. She enjoyed volleyball and going to concerts with Kyle (especially Garth Brooks- who dedicated a song to her at one of his concerts after her cancer diagnosis). Her motto while going through these two years of cancer treatments was “Fight Like Wild.” She always battled with such grace and tenacity. Tahler is an inspiration to so many lives that she touched during her short time here.

Left to cherish her memory are Kyle, her loving husband of nearly five years but her sweetheart for 13; precious daughter Briley; her parents Bernie and Melanie Johnston, of Marshalltown; sister Taryn (Clint) Schneider, of Ankeny; in-laws Tracy and Lori Wildman, of Marshalltown, Kyle’s grandma Evelyn Thompson, of Marshalltown, Kyle’s two sister’s Dani and Megan and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

In death, she rejoined her grandparents: Robert and Camelia Mowrey and Wm. Palmer and Mary Elizabeth Johnston and other special relatives.

Tahler’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received throughout this journey. It helped fuel her already fierce spirit and made difficult days easier to bare. Tahler and her entire family are humbled and grateful for you all.
