Katherine “Kathy” Mae Keiser, 88

Katherine “Kathy” Mae Keiser, 88, of Gladbrook, IA, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook. A private family service will be held with Pastor Gideon Gallo officiating. Interment will be at Gethmann Cemetery. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance Service or to the United Methodist Church of Gladbrook. Kathy was born December 8, 1931, in Mahaska county, Iowa, to Theodore Russell and Viola (Koch) Sampson. She was raised on the Koch family farm near Delta. She attended Burr Oak School and graduated from Delta High School. Kathy received her elementary education training at Central College in Pella. She taught second grade in Gilman and later Gladbrook. Kathy married Donald F. Keiser on June 24, 1961, at the United Methodist Church in Delta. Following their marriage, Kathy took on the role of farm wife. She enjoyed gardening, mowing, baking and raising her family. Kathy and Donald resided on the Keiser family farm their entire married life. Kathy continued to live on the farm after Donald’s death until she moved to Westbrook Acres in December of 2014. Kathy was a member of the United Methodist church of Gladbrook, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, circle leader, mission chair and president of the United Methodist Women. She was also a past president and Americanism chair for the Ehrig McTurk American Legion Auxiliary.

Kathy is survived by her three children: Nancy Keiser, of Marshalltown, Steven Keiser, of Gladbrook, and John Keiser, of Granger; her grandson Wyatt (Starlene) Randolph, and great grand-daughter Caitlin Randolph.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister and brother-in-law Enid and Neven Crandon and an infant brother Ernest Theodore Sampson.
