Shane was born on August 15, 1976, in Eldora, Iowa, to his mother Sue Butler. He grew up in Union and attended school at BCLUW. While attending high school, Shane worked for Dave’s crane and wrecker services. He graduated from high school in 1995.

His love was his job — he spent his life there. Shane worked as a mechanic for 25 years at Ben’s Tire in Marshalltown for Kelcy Benscoter. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with friends and golfing. Shane was a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan. Shane was a man of few words but could surprise anyone with his big heart.

He is survived by his mother, Sue Butler; his grandmother Joyce Butler; aunts Carol (Ralph) Crawford and Jo (Mike) Donaldson; uncle Jeff (Crystal) Butler; cousins Alan (Monica) Donaldson and their two children, Regan and Colton and Chris (Perin) Donaldson and special friend, Darcy Zahnd.

Shane was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harold Butler.
