Dallas Mason Williams

Dallas Mason Williams of Union, Iowa passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020 at the age of 92. Memorials may be directed to Union Community Church, Union Community Church Youth Group, and the Union Public Library. A private family service will be held at a later date. Dallas was born to William Henry and Lura Ellen (Rash) Williams on January 11, 1928 on a farm south of Union. He attended country school until 4th grade and graduated from Union High School in 1945. Dallas then attended University of Iowa. On April 17, 1949 he married Darlene Walter and they moved south of New Providence where they farmed for 63 years and raised 4 children. He served on the Board of the Directors for the Union-Whitten Savings Bank. Dallas was a Director on the Hardin County Mutual Insurance Association and served as President from 1969-1993. He was on the Hardin County Zoning Adjustment Board and a 4-H Leader for many years. Dallas was a member of Chester Friends Church and later Union Community Church. He had many interests including playing high school baseball, his kids’ activities, reading current events, and family gatherings. His main interest, however, was farming. Dallas liked to have his cattle lot full and to watch his crops grow. He was able to monitor the progress of his corn up until his final days.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 71 years, Darlene, his four children; Cynthia Lindaman, Marvin Williams, Mark (Sandra) Williams and Mary Carole (Scott) Cook, seven grandchildren; Brent Lindaman, Laura Wilson, Tim Williams, Scott Williams, Katie Cook, Brian Cook, Sandra Isabella Williams, and four great grandchildren; Cole Wilson, Paige Wilson, Savannah Williams and Collin Williams. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Howard Lindaman, and a daughter-in-law, Rosemary (Arrowsmith) Williams.
