He served on the Board of the Directors for the Union-Whitten Savings Bank. Dallas was a Director on the Hardin County Mutual Insurance Association and served as President from 1969-1993. He was on the Hardin County Zoning Adjustment Board and a 4-H Leader for many years. Dallas was a member of Chester Friends Church and later Union Community Church. He had many interests including playing high school baseball, his kids’ activities, reading current events, and family gatherings. His main interest, however, was farming. Dallas liked to have his cattle lot full and to watch his crops grow. He was able to monitor the progress of his corn up until his final days.
