Lea Dean “Lea” Levis, 67

Lea Dean “Lea” Levis, 67, of Midway, Arkansas, formerly of Fort Dodge IA, passed away July 22, 2020, at his home in Midway. A graveside service was held Saturday morning, August 1st at the Timber Creek Cemetery in rural Marshalltown with full military honors jointly presented by the American Legion Post #46 and the VFW Post #839 of Marshalltown. Memorial contributions in Lea’s memory may be directed to the American Legion Post #46 or the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #839.

Lea was born on September 15, 1952, in rural Marshall County, to Max and Margaret (Schweinebart) Levis. He grew up in Marshalltown and graduated from high school here. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army Infantry Division where he proudly served from 1972 – 1992 in many leadership roles and locations. After his honorable discharge, he earned his associate degrees at Hawkeye Community College and entered the law enforcement field. He was employed as a Jailor at the Tama County Sherriff’s Office and later was a Correctional Officer in Ft. Dodge for the State of Iowa. Upon retirement Lea moved to his residence in Midway, AR. Lea loved all outdoor activities especially hunting and fishing. He always took great pride in giving service to others – both in the military and as a citizen. What he enjoyed most was spending time with the ones he loved.

Left to honor and cherish his memory are: his son, William and his significant other, Ann Burleson; his father Max Levis; his siblings: Sharon Gray and Bruce Levis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In eternal life, Lea has been reunited with his mother, Margaret, his sister, Donna Orr, and an infant brother, Max.
