Joe is survived by his siblings Lawrence of Tama and Shirley Deal of Green Mountain, his wife Patricia of Clinton, his sons Randy Murty of Kansas City, Kansas, Don Murty of Tama, Larry (Jennifer) Murty of Marshalltown, Frank LaShelle, James (Jean) LaShelle, Larry (Debi) Thein and his four daughters LeAnn (Leroy) Young, Christine (Keith) Lyman, Lorna (Elmer) Pothof and Kymber of Clinton and his 6 grandchildren.

Burial will be at Montour Cemetery next to his first wife Inez, at a later date, as well as a Memorial Service.
