Mark Douglas Pieper, 57, of Marshalltown, IA left this Earth to join the Lord on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021 with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at Anderson Funeral Home in Marshalltown. A private Graveside Service will take place at a later date. Mark grew up in Marshalltown and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1982. He received residential and other services from CIRSI for many years. He worked at Mid Iowa Workshops, where he had many different jobs and enjoyed the company of his co-workers. Mark had many interests, including golf, bowling, and track and field. He was involved with many of those sports through Special Olympics of Iowa. He was also an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs.
Mark will be sadly missed by his loving family: his mother, Betty Pieper of Marshalltown; brothers John (Joan) Pieper of Coralville, Greg Pieper of Ankeny, Mike Pieper of Marshalltown, Nick (Margie) Pieper of Muscatine, and Patrick (Vera) Pieper of Keene, California; sisters Mary Pieper of Mason City and Erin (Patrick) Kelly of Marshalltown; and his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, John Pieper; sister Lori Pieper; and brother Stephen Pieper in infancy.
