Rex Day, 62, a life-long resident of Marshalltown, IA passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and family at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A memorial account has been established at Farmers State Bank in Marshalltown where funds will then be directed to Rex’s favorite charities and organizations. Rex was born November 11, 1958 to Robert and Glenda (Treadway) Day in Marshalltown. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1977 and then attended Marshalltown Community College. Rex was a very hard working man following in the footsteps of his father in the construction business. Rex took a break from the construction industry to manage Marshall Print in Marshalltown. True to his heart he then went back to construction and most recently owned and operated Day Construction Services.
On August 5, 2017 Rex was united in marriage to the love of his life, Janell King, at their home in Marshalltown, IA. The couple shared an amazing life together. Rex was an avid outdoors/sportsman, loving fishing, hunting, dog training, riding his Harley, and snowmobile trips with his boys and many dear friends.
Rex will be missed by his wife; Janell, his father; Bob Day of Marshalltown, two sons; Michael Day of Marshalltown, IA, Grant Day of Marshalltown, IA, a step son; Beau Squires of Marshalltown, IA, a step daughter; Anna Marie Squires of Marshalltown, IA, two grandchildren; Harper and Cassius, a sister; Keitha (Randy) Flake of Grinnell, IA, a sister in law; Connie (Goodman) Day of Denver, CO, a brother-in-law; Jeff (Mary) King of Conrad, IA, two nieces; Jill (Chad) Hollingsworth of Grinnell, IA, Chandra Day of Denver, CO, nephew; Rob Cannon of Newton, IA and goldendoodle, Murphy. He was preceded in death by his mother; Glenda, and a brother; Ivan.
