Sharon Kay Stanley, 74, of Des Moines, IA, formerly of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Trinity Central in Des Moines. A private graveside service for the family will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established by the family. Sharon was born on May 16, 1947, in Marshalltown to Chester and Dorothy (Alexander) Hayes. She was a graduate of Marshalltown High School and was employed in the catering staff of Blackhawk Hotel. On June 24, 1973, in Las Vegas, NV, she married Donald G. Stanley. They raised one daughter, Shari Stanley. For many years Sharon was the dedicated provider of home care for her daughter who was born with cerebral palsy. In her retirement years, residing in East Moline, Ill, Sharon enjoyed conversation over coffee with friends. Along with her daughter, Shari, she was an avid fan of country music.
Sharon is survived by her daughter; Shari Stanley, siblings; Charles Hayes, of Nixa, MO, Connie Edwards, of Waco, TX, Karen White, of Newton, IA, and Paul Hayes, of Des Moines, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Stanley, her parents and brother, Robert Hayes.
