Shirley I. Gould, 100

Shirley I. Gould, 100, of Marshalltown, formerly of Liscomb, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at The Willows of Marshalltown.

Per the wishes of Shirley and her family, cremation rites have been accorded under the care of the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A celebration of life will take place at a later date to be announced. Born Shirley Irene Speicher on May 13, 1921 on the family farm south of Liscomb, she was the daughter of William and Lillian (Hurdle) Speicher. She was the oldest of six children and graduated from Liscomb High School in 1939. After meeting the love of her life, Clair Gould, they were united in marriage on February 13, 1941 in Princeton, MO. Together they made their home in Liscomb, where she worked hard in the home raising their two sons. She was also the last switchboard operator in Liscomb. Shirley was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ and the Rebekkah Lodge. In her free time, she enjoyed golf, bowling, bingo, cards, jigsaw puzzles and birdwatching.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Philip (Debra) Gould and William “Dallas” Gould; grandchildren: Ted Gould, Michelle Gould (Stephen) Sheets and Gabe (Jamie) Gould; great grandchildren: Ryan Gould, Caleb Sheets, Zachary Gould, Jacob Gould, Eleora Sheets and Naomi Sheets; and several other relatives.

In eternal life, she is reunited with her beloved husband, Clair; her parents and her siblings.
