Maynard (Bud) Gallentine, 103

Maynard (Bud) Gallentine passed from this life peacefully with family by his side at the age of 103 years old. Bud was born in Marshall County, Iowa to Harry and Veronica Gallentine. He was the oldest of five children, Garnet, John Dale, Vern and Beth. They spent their youth in rural Van Cleve area. He graduated from Van Cleve School in 1935. He married Eileen R. Turnbull, schoolmate of his sister Garnet February 26th 1940. They spent their early years raising Children. Bud and Eileen were active in the Van Cleve Congregational Church. They also helped to organize and were active in youth groups boy scouts and 4-H.

Bud graduated from the Coyne College of Electrical Construction in Chicago, this leading to a career of Electrical work. In 1961, they moved their family in to Marshalltown, where he joined the City of Marshalltown in developing it’s Electrical and Electrical Inspection Departments, which he headed until his retirement in 1983. He was active in the National Electrical Inspector’s Organization and was president of the Iowa Chapter.

Bud and Eileen were instrumental in the Senior Citizen’s Center in Marshalltown in 1972. Eileen was its founding Director and Bud the tireless volunteer helping with activities, crafts and even calling Square Dances at their monthly dance nite. They both retired in 1983.

His family enjoyed Grandpa’s Stories of the “olden days” and his comments on Current events.

At the time of Eileen’s passing they had enjoyed 66 years of married life.

Bud is survived by his youngest sister, Mrs Beth Gilgen, of Marshalltown, Daughter Janice Breja, of Kirksville Mo, sons, Richard, Marvin and Michael Gallentine, of Colorado Springs and their families. He is the Patriarch of 5 Generations of family and extended families.

We, the family would like to invite you for a gathering of family and friends to Celebrate the life he shared with us all. We will meet at 12:30 pm on Sunday Sept. 4th at the Logan Cemetery near Van Cleve, IA. AT 2:00 pm we will move to the Anson Shelter House in Marshalltown.
