Marilyn J. Edsall, 92
Marilyn J. Edsall, 92, formerly of Marshalltown, IA, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, AR. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Anderson Funeral Homes of Marshalltown has been entrusted with the arrangements. Marilyn was born on May 21, 1930, in Wheatland, IA, to George and Esther Hoffmann. She was raised in Wheatland and graduated from Wheatland High School in 1948. She attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in Cedar Falls, graduating with a teaching certificate. Marilyn was a kindergarten-primary teacher in Wheatland and Marshalltown from 1950 to 1957. She married Richard Edsall on June 12, 1955, in Wheatland.
The Edsall’s owned and operated the Edsall Photographic Studio in Webster City from 1957 to 1967 and the Edsall Printing Service in Marshalltown from 1972 through 1988. The Edsall’s were resident managers of the Odd Fellow Apartments in Marshalltown from 1989 until retiring in 1992. In retirement, they traveled coast to coast in their Winnebago RV, and drove the Alcan Highway to Alaska. They enjoyed wintering in their RV in Texas and Arizona for ten years where they were active bird watchers. Marilyn was a member of First Presbyterian Church, serving at various times as Sunday school teacher, member of the chancel choir and board of deacons.
Marilyn and Richard moved to Louisville, CO, in the spring of 2010 to be near daughter Kay, son David and their families. Richard passed away in 2011. Spring of 2021 Marilyn moved into assisted living in Fayetteville, AR near daughter Diane and her family.
Survivors include daughters: Kay (Jeff) Gazaway, of Westminster, Colorado, and Diane (Russell) Stinebaugh, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; son David (Jodie), of Evart, Michigan; grandchildren: Ben and Emily Gazaway and Zebulon Adams, and great granddaughter Andi Jo Waggoner.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Celebration of Life services will follow the graveside Saturday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. Memorial donations may be made to: Willard Walker Hospice Home, 325 E. Longview St., Fayetteville, AR, 72703.
