Roy Watson, 88
Roy Watson, 88, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the morning of January 9, 2023, at the Iowa River hospice Home.
At this time cremation rites have been accorded and private services will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa. Roy Eugene Watson was born June 21, 1934, to parents Roy Elbridge and Ethel (Switzer) Watson in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was one of three children in their family. He attended school in Marshalltown where he later graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1952.
On September 15, 1956, Roy was united in marriage to the love of his life, Connie Hughes at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they lived in Dillon and Marshalltown over their 66 years of marriage. They raised two sons, David and Mike. Throughout his working career he worked in the Tool and Die departments at KIOWA, Fisher Controls and Marshalltown Manufacturing where he would later retire.
Roy was a member of the Pine Ridge Gun Club; over the years he would participate in numerous shooting competitions even at a national level. In his free time, he loved to build model airplanes and ships, travel with his family to his cabin in Wisconsin and going fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Watson; his son, Mike (Pam) Watson; alongside many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, David Watson; his parents Roy and Ethel Watson and his siblings, Wayne and Evelyn (Watson) Gummert.
