Carrie D. Smith, 48, of Beaman, IA, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, IA. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 6, 2023, at the Beaman United Methodist Church in Beaman. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the Beaman United Methodist Church. Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery in rural Beaman. Carrie was born March 13, 1974, to Glen and Ann (Miller) Smith in Marshalltown. She graduated from BCLUW High School in 1992. Carrie received her Associate Degree from Ellsworth Community College in 1994. She worked at NCM in Grundy Center where she molded plastics. For the past 12 years, Carrie worked at CIRSI where she found her calling working in the Adult Day Services program. She was a lifelong member of the Beaman United Methodist Church. Carrie was very involved in community organizations, including United Methodist Women, Beaman Betterment Club and Beaman Woman’s Club. She was a member and current president of P.E.O. Chapter AR. Carrie was passionate about Grundy County 4-H. She was a 10-year youth member, County Council member and Clay Busy Bees Club leader. Carrie was a devoted BCLUW Comet and Nodaway Valley Thunder fan. She also enjoyed knitting prayer shawls for the church. Carrie planted and cared for the flowers in the town planters, beautifying Main Street Beaman each summer. She was very proud of the recognition she received for this service. Carrie was presented Beaman Citizen of the Year in 2019 and the Governor Volunteer Award in 2010. Most of all, Carrie loved family events and family holidays when she got to spend time with everyone she loved.
Carrie will be dearly missed by her parents; Glen and Ann Smith, of Beaman, IA, two sisters; Jane (Mike) Hanson, of Graham, MO, Margaret “Meg” Smith, of Osceola, IA, a nephew, Clay and a niece, Paige.
