William “Bill” Shuler, 86

William “Bill” Shuler, 86, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023, at UnityPoint Health Marshalltown. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour, IA. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.

Bill was born September 8, 1936, to William and Maxine (Burns) Shuler in Montour. He attended school in Van Cleve and graduated from Dunbar in 1954. Bill served his country in the United States Air Force.

He married the love of his life, Caroline Volk in 1958 in Moses Lake, WA. Bill and Caroline moved back to Iowa in 1971 and took over the family farm until 1986. In 1986, they relocated to Great Falls, MT to be close to his oldest son and started trucking and became an owner operator for 19 years. Five years ago, they moved back to Iowa and resided at the Village Coop.

Bill was a member of the American Legion. He had many passions in life that included hunting and fishing. In his earlier years, Bill was known as the “Great White Hunter.” He also enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his family, watching western movies and was a faithful viewer of “Wheel of Fortune.”

Left to cherish Bill’s memory is his loving and faithful wife of 64 years, Caroline, five children: Terri (Larry) Mason, of Tama, IA, Tammy (Gary) Bradley, of Tama, Mike (Betsy) Shuler, of Wolf Creek, MT, Brenda (Todd) Dougherty, of Marshalltown, Casper Shuler, of Tampa, Fl, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Norma Shuler, Ila Rebik, a brother-in-law, Stan Rebik.
