Born Dorothy Ione Thomas on August 4, 1932, in Mason City, Iowa, she was the only child of Larry and Ula (Samburg) Thomas. She grew up in Albion, where she graduated from high school in 1950. After meeting the love of her life, Corwin “Corkee” Keeler, the two were united in marriage on March 2, 1952, at the Albion Methodist Church. They made their home in Albion and after retirement, enjoyed their time as snowbirds in Texas for 19 years.

While Dorothy primarily dedicated her time and energy to taking care of her family, she also held several jobs over the years outside of the home. She worked as a secretary at Lennox Industries for eight years and as the City Clerk of Albion for ten years. She was also a member of the Leorian Club and the Albion Weekend Warriors Camping Club. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, trips to Minnesota, finger painting and playing Free Cell. She also enjoyed crafts and sewing, making many washcloths and children’s clothing over the years. Dorothy had a passion for music and loved sharing her gift by singing at church, weddings and funerals. She had a great appreciation for genealogy and the family’s history. Family meant more than anything else to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids and attending their many sporting events.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 71 years, Corkee; her children: Kendra Nestrud, Kimarie (Jon) McKeever, Kristy Keeler and Kent (Dawn) Keeler; nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members.

In eternal life, Dorothy is reunited with her parents, Larry and Ula Thomas.
