Ann Therese Clare Duffy Kuhlman, 64
Ann Therese Clare Duffy Kuhlman was called home to be with our Lord on Monday, May 22, 2023, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown, IA, at the age of 64. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi – St. Henry’s in Marshalltown. There will be a Rosary prayed at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Visitation will take place 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 29, 2023, at the church with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Interment will immediately follow funeral services at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. The family invites you to join them for a lunch following the burial at the church. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to St. Francis Church and School, or Guiding Star. Further arrangements are pending with Anderson Funeral Homes of Marshalltown. Ann was born on July 21, 1958, to LaVerne and Doralene (Kahrs) Duffy in Waterloo, IA, and was the youngest of 10 children. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1976. Upon graduating she attended and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Biology in 1980. After some experience working with Special Education students, she knew that was her calling. She went back to UNI and graduated with her MA in Special Education. Ann moved to Marshalltown in 1984 and taught at Marshalltown High School, Miller Middle School and Hoglan Elementary. Shortly after moving, she met the love of her life, Charles Kuhlman, and the two married on July 18, 1987, at St. Henry’s Parish in Marshalltown. The two built their life in Marshalltown. In 1993, they adopted Philip through the Catholic Charities, and 1995 adopted Therese through Holt International. They homeschooled their children from elementary through high school. Ann worked at the YMCA for 10 years where she touched many lives. She and Charles were also very involved in St. Henry’s Church, considering the church their family. Ann was a song leader on guitar and loved to sing, teach religious ed with Denise Gimbel and lead the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy. In her free time, Ann had a loving passion for bird watching, music, cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting. She will be missed for her loving generosity.
Ann is survived by her husband, Charles Kuhlman, children, Philip (Elya) Kuhlman and Therese (Paige Campbell) Kuhlman, grandsons, Malakai and Ezekiel, five brothers, one sister, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Brian Duffy, Tim Duffy, and Michele George, one brother-in-law, Tom Walding, one sister-in-law, Sandy Duffy and one nephew, Justin Duffy.
