Dale Eugene Wilson, 94
Dale Eugene Wilson, 94, lifelong resident of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the Iowa River Hospice Home.
Services for Dale will take place on Sunday, June 4 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marshalltown with Pastor Paul Waterman officiating. Visitation will be held one-hour prior beginning at 1:00 P.M. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Born December 18, 1928, at home in Marshalltown, Iowa, he was the son of George Edward and Opal Ruth (Poole) Wilson. He graduated from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1947. He honorably served his country in the National Guard. Dale was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Lois Kaufmann, on March 28, 1948. They celebrated 74 years together before her passing last October.
Dale dedicated over 44 years to Fisher Controls, retiring as a Supervisor. He was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder and on the building committee. He cared so deeply for people and enjoyed volunteering at the hospital for over 17 years and being a foster parent for 21 years. He was also a member of the Ornithologist Club. In his free time, Dale enjoyed collecting model airplanes, stamps and coins, writing poems and doing jigsaw puzzles. “Mr. Fix It” loved carpentry and especially enjoyed helping his children with their home renovations. He also enjoyed making his famous fudge for his family on holidays.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Deborah Mason, of Toledo, daughter-in-law Joy Wilson, of Benton, KS, Dianne (Jack) Hughes, of Alvord, TX, Dawn (Jeff) Johnston, of Marshalltown, Brian (Carrie) Wilson, of Cedar Rapids, and Dana (Denise Morrow) Wilson, of Portland, OR; 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; his brother-in-law Daroll (Bev) Kaufmann, of Superior, WI and sister-in-law Janet Kaufmann and numerous nieces and nephews.
In eternal life he is reunited with his beloved wife Lois, son Dan Wilson, his parents George and Opal Wilson, grandson Garrett Shinn; his siblings: Wanita (Vern) Scovill, Joan (Sam Newton) (Don) Cathcart, Gary (Carolyn) Wilson and his brothers-in-law, Paul Kaufmann and David Kaufmann in infancy.
