Dennis “Denny” Ray Hines was born September 10, 1952, in Storm Lake, IA to Lowell and Betty (Holman) Hines. He graduated from East Buchanan High School and enlisted in the United States Army in 1970. Denny proudly served his country until moving to Conrad in 1973 where he met the love of his life, Janice Kadner, while working at the Conrad Coop. The two married in October of 1975 and Denny started his farming career with the Bockes Brothers until 1984 when he joined Kadner Farms, Inc. Denny and Jan were blessed with three boys and decided to make their life long home in Conrad. They spent many family vacations through the years taking Denny’s 56 Chevy to car shows throughout the country with the Tri-Five Club. Denny’s love for farming led him to owning a semi and driving for Mara Transport before joining Mid Iowa Coop as an operations manager in 2005 where he worked until retirement in 2019. Prior to retirement, he had a big impact in designing and building the projects of MidWay and The Mill locations for Mid Iowa Coop.

Denny volunteered his time on the Conrad Fire Department for 45 years, 20 of the years in the Chief position. He also was a part of the Conrad American Legion and the Tuesday night car cruise group. Denny’s passion for farming was followed by his sons, and they enjoyed antique tractor pulling together. In recent years, Denny enjoyed his time spent with family and friends camping, an annual trip to Galena, and attending his grandkids activities. He made an impact to many and will truly be missed.
