John (Jack) Stickfort, 87

John (Jack) Stickfort, 87, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church, Marshalltown, IA.

Jack was born on March 19, 1936, in Stout, IA, to William and Sophie (Finke) Stickfort. He was baptized at the Stout Reformed Church, Stout, IA. He grew up in the Stout area and graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1954. While in high school, Jack joined the National Guard. He served from 1954 until 1957. He continued his service to his country in the Army Reserves until 1962.

In 1959, Jack was united in marriage to Mary Ann Kliege. They moved to Lake Mills, IA, in 1965, where Jack was employed at Twito’s Chevrolet until 1985. He later moved to Marshalltown, IA, and worked for Manning Chevrolet until he retired.

In 1996, Jack met and married Patricia White at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a devout Christian, who loved his family and his church. His hospitality extended to many foreign exchange students throughout the years from France, Japan, El Salvador, and Germany, who also became like family; even being known to a special family as “Dear.”

Jack enjoyed music, traveling, gardening and visiting with family and friends. He was a craftsman, woodworker, coin collector, musician and car enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife Patricia, his son Jeff (Sonya) Stickfort, of Temple, TX, daughters: Rose (Jim) Evjen, of Portland, TX, Pamela (Kirk) Clouse, of Baton Rouge, LA, and son Greg (Shelley) Stickfort, of Scotch Grove, IA; seven grandchildren: Holly (Jimmie) Treff, Dakota (Sarah) Evjen, Alissa (Tony) Tang, Ian Stickfort, Haley Stickfort, Micaela (John George) Bartel and Savanah Clouse; and five great grandchildren: Kyler, Slate, Decker, Summer and Sky.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Lee Roy.
