Marie was born to Myrtle Lucille and Otha Raymond Hensley on March 24th, 1938. She grew up on a farm near Liscomb, Iowa. Marie was one of four children. She attended Albion Community School and graduated in 1956. Marie began work at Fisher Controls and met her husband, Duane Elsberry. She still remembers meeting Duane through mutual friends at the Marshalltown Dance Hall, which was located on the north side of Marshalltown, where Dave Wright Honda is located. They were married on February 22nd, 1959, and were married for 62 years.

Duane and Marie had three children: Doreen (Neale) Eyler lives in Wichita, Kansas, Raymond Elsberry lives in Marshalltown, Iowa, and Donald (Karen) Elsberry live in Pella, Iowa. Marie had four grandchildren: Jacob, Sarah, Brianna and Ashley; six great grandchildren: Apollo, Atlas, Orion, Ethan Alia and Jaxon. Marie loved her family more than life itself. Marie is survived by her sister Ruth (Don) Feld.

Marie returned to school after the children were in high school and graduated from Buena Vista University in 1978 with BA degree. Marie started at Lennox Industries where she worked for 30 years. After retiring, she devoted her time to her family, working on the farm landscaping and remodeling their home. Marie’s passions were baking pies, cakes and other delicious desserts! Having the whole family to together for Thanksgiving was always a special time for meal preparation and treats.

Preceding Marie in death were her husband Duane, Brothers David and John, mother Lucille and father Otha.

We are never ready to lose a loved one and mother will be missed greatly. We find comfort knowing that her faith in Christ has reunited her with Duane and other loved ones in heaven.
